I’ve had the same Iwata for 10 years, it was a HS graduation gift, and it is still in great condition. Really worth the money.
testors aztek airbrushes are about as worthless as airbrushes come. badgers are okay for student grade. for the best and most painless airbrush experience, nothing beats an iwata. it may be expensive to start with, but it will pay for itself in the long run.
badgers break down often because they use a lot of bad parts. cheap plastic, brass, etc. will slow down the performance of any airbrush.
iwatas are almost 100% stainless steel except for the o-rings and washers. they are also backed by an excellent warranty and customer service.
i’m sorry to say but that aztek is really not worth half its retail price. i can’t think of a single professional who uses it for anything more than a doorstop.
Aztek and Paasche are both a total waste of money. The Iwata is a fantastic airbrush, but there’s other brands that are just as good unless you’re wanting a micron. I have 4 Iwata’s and most of them don’t see the light of day. If I’m using water based paints the Olympos is by far my favorite for fine detail. If I’m using uro’s the MoJo (RichPen) is my weapon of choice, but that’s just because I don’t own a Iwata micron….yet. For airbrushing in general (not trying to achieve the finest detail) I’ll usually grab a Grex or RichPen 112B. They all have smooth trigger action, teflon packing (except the Olympos which has rubber packing), and with the .2 mm needle/nozzle you can still achieve a lot of fine detail.
There’s a lot of choices out there so do your homework. Seriously though, you may want to look at Grex a little closer. They’re producing fantastic airbrushes, and only use the best materials while taking great care in the precision machining process. To be quite honest, I’ve yet to meet anyone who owns one that’s dissatisfied. That’s why you never find them on Ebay.
